Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif commends security forces for operations in Kalat and Gwadar and pays tribute to Major Wajahat Waheed, who was martyred in an IED blast in Pasni.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Monday commended Pakistan’s security forces for killing four India-backed terrorists during operations in Balochistan’s Kalat and Gwadar districts, while paying tribute to Major Wajahat Waheed, who was martyred in an improvised explosive device (IED) blast in Pasni.
According to a statement issued by the Prime Minister’s Office Media Wing in Lahore on Oct. 19, 2026, the prime minister praised the security forces for their successful operations against what the statement described as “khawarij” and India-sponsored terrorists.
Sharif also expressed his condolences over the martyrdom of 34-year-old Major Wajahat Waheed in the IED blast in Pasni.
“Major Wajahat Waheed sacrificed his life for the protection of our beloved homeland. The nation is proud of its brave son,” the prime minister said, according to the statement.
The prime minister extended his heartfelt sympathies to the martyred officer’s family and prayed for the elevation of his ranks in the hereafter.
The statement did not provide further details about the timing of the operations in Kalat and Gwadar, the identities of the four people killed or the circumstances surrounding the IED blast in Pasni.
The prime minister reiterated the government’s resolve to continue the fight against foreign-sponsored terrorism until its complete elimination. The statement said the commitment was in line with the vision of “Azm-e-Istehkam,” as outlined by the Apex Committee.
The tribute to Major Waheed and the commendation of security forces came amid continued counterterrorism efforts in Balochistan, where the government has reiterated its commitment to tackling militant threats.
