Chinese agribusiness giant FAMSUN plans to establish a green silo demonstration centre in Pakistan, bringing advanced grain storage technology, workforce training, and stronger food security cooperation.
ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has welcomed Chinese agribusiness company FAMSUN’s proposal to modernize Pakistan’s grain storage infrastructure through advanced green silo technology, describing the initiative as a significant step toward strengthening the country’s agriculture sector and food security.
During a meeting in Islamabad with a delegation led by FAMSUN Chief Executive Officer Jack Chen, the prime minister was briefed on the company’s plans to establish a green silo demonstration centre in Pakistan. The proposal also includes the development of modern grain storage facilities, technology transfer, and specialized training programmes aimed at improving post-harvest management and reducing food losses.
PM Shehbaz said the project would introduce modern agricultural technologies while promoting commercial activity and supporting the long-term growth of Pakistan’s farming sector. He emphasized that efficient grain storage is essential for ensuring food security and enhancing the country’s agricultural productivity.
Highlighting the close relationship between Pakistan and China, the prime minister said bilateral economic cooperation continues to expand across multiple sectors. He noted that stronger business-to-business partnerships would further reinforce the longstanding friendship between the two countries.
The premier also stressed that technology transfer should be accompanied by skills development, calling workforce training a key component of sustainable economic and agricultural progress.
FAMSUN CEO Jack Chen thanked the prime minister for the government’s support and hospitality. He recalled meeting PM Shehbaz during the premier’s recent visit to China, where both sides discussed practical measures to improve Pakistan’s food security.
Chen reaffirmed FAMSUN’s commitment to supporting Pakistan through modern grain storage solutions, advanced technology transfer, and capacity-building programmes designed to strengthen the country’s agricultural infrastructure.
