The presidents of Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan will undertake separate official visits to Pakistan next week marking a significant step in strengthening Pakistan’s diplomatic economic and regional engagement with Central Asia, according to diplomatic sources.
Kazakhstan’s President Kassym Jomart Tokayev will visit Pakistan on February 3 and 4, with his schedule already finalized. During the visit President Tokayev is expected to hold meetings with Pakistan’s top leadership to discuss bilateral relations, regional developments, and avenues for enhanced economic cooperation. Sources said a key memorandum of understanding on railway cooperation is likely to be signed, aimed at improving trade connectivity between Central Asia and South Asia. The agreement is expected to enhance freight transport and boost regional trade through improved rail links.
Following the Kazakh visit Uzbekistan’s President Shavkat Mirziyoyev will arrive in Pakistan on February 5 and 6. His visit will include high level talks with Pakistani leaders, focusing on expanding cooperation in trade investment energy education and other priority sectors.The agenda and meeting schedule for the visit have also been finalized.
Diplomatic experts view the back to-back visits as a strong signal of Pakistan’s growing engagement with Central Asian states and its efforts to deepen regional connectivity and economic integration.
