Pakistan welcomes the holy month with generally dry weather, though northern regions remain chilly during mornings and nights
WEB DESK: Thursday marked the start of Ramadan in Pakistan, bringing dry conditions nationwide but noticeably chilly mornings and evenings in several regions, the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) reported.
In the federal capital, Islamabad, residents observing the first sehri and iftar felt a crisp chill, although daytime temperatures remained comfortable. Punjab saw similar conditions, with dry weather prevailing in most districts and light fog expected in the northeast during early hours, potentially affecting morning commuters.
Hill stations, including Murree and the Galiyat region, experienced cold mornings and nights, though skies stayed clear. Sindh’s weather remained relatively stable, offering smoother conditions for those beginning fasting.
In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, dry weather dominated, but upper areas experienced colder temperatures, adding a wintry touch to the holy month’s start. Balochistan mirrored these conditions, with northern districts facing a morning chill.
Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan reported cold, dry weather, with potential thunderstorms during early and late hours, according to PMD forecasts.
As families across Pakistan gathered for the first prayers and meals, the dry weather is expected to aid travel and outdoor activities, despite lingering cold in northern and high-altitude regions.
