KP official clarifies the temporary nature of the force established for Imran Khan’s release
Peshawar: Shafee Jan, Special Assistant to the Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa for Information, clarified on Sunday that the force being set up to facilitate the release of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan is not a political wing. He emphasized that the force will be disbanded once Khan is released.
Speaking to a private television channel, Jan said the initiative is part of a street movement strategy, with formal membership and an oath-taking process for those wishing to join. “Anyone can become a part of this force,” he noted, underlining its inclusive structure.
Jan also revealed that authorities are reviewing new protest strategies, with activities expected to resume after Ramadan. He stressed that there have been no backdoor negotiations aimed at ending the demonstrations.
The announcement comes after the Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa had earlier declared the formation of a special force to support Khan’s release, highlighting the provincial government’s active role in the ongoing political mobilization.
