RAWALPINDI: Deputy Commissioner Nadeem Nasir has ordered 24-hour monitoring of different points along Nullah Lai to prevent illegal dumping and directed authorities to take legal action against those involved in the practice.
The deputy commissioner said dumpers and other vehicles found involved in dumping waste into Nullah Lai should be seized and FIRs registered against those responsible. He directed that legal action be taken without discrimination against all elements found involved in illegal dumping.
Nasir said illegal dumping in Nullah Lai would not be tolerated under any circumstances. He instructed Safe City authorities to ensure round-the-clock surveillance of various locations along the nullah to identify and prevent dumping activities.
He also directed the relevant departments to ensure immediate removal from land belonging to owners who had received compensation. In cases where land transfers have already been completed or the transfer process is still pending, he ordered authorities to fulfill all legal requirements and ensure the required evacuation.
The deputy commissioner further directed the concerned departments to maintain effective coordination and take necessary measures regarding Nullah Lai.
He said negligence in efforts aimed at cleaning and widening Nullah Lai would not be tolerated and called for coordinated action by all relevant departments.
The directives cover monitoring, enforcement, land-related measures and ongoing efforts to improve the condition and capacity of Nullah Lai. Authorities have been instructed to ensure that legal requirements are completed while taking action against illegal dumping and clearing affected areas.
