RAWALPINDI: The Deputy Commissioner of Rawalpindi has announced a local holiday on Tuesday, August 4, 2026, in connection with the Chehlum procession of Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA).

According to an official notification, all public and private educational institutions, including universities, colleges, and schools, located within the municipal limits of Rawalpindi Tehsil will remain closed for the day.

The decision has been taken to facilitate security arrangements and ensure the smooth conduct of the Chehlum procession. Authorities are expected to implement comprehensive traffic management and security measures across key routes in the city.

Residents, students, parents, and educational staff have been advised to plan their schedules accordingly and cooperate with law enforcement agencies during the observance.
