Galaxy S25 Ultra and Galaxy S24 Ultra users report rapid battery drain, overheating, and slower charging after Samsung’s latest software update, while the company has yet to issue an official response.
Samsung is facing growing criticism from some Galaxy smartphone owners after its latest software update reportedly caused battery drain, overheating, and slower charging on the Galaxy S25 Ultra and Galaxy S24 Ultra. The complaints have spread across online technology forums and social media, where users say their devices no longer perform as efficiently as they did before the update.
The most commonly reported issue is excessive battery consumption. Several users claim their phones lose power much faster than usual, even during routine tasks such as web browsing, messaging, or checking emails. Some owners say a fully charged device now drops to a much lower battery percentage within just a few hours of light use, raising concerns about the update’s impact on day-to-day reliability.
Many users have also reported unusual overheating following the installation of the update. According to these reports, some devices become noticeably warm while sitting idle, while others heat up during everyday activities such as video streaming, social media browsing, or navigation. The increased temperatures have prompted concerns about potential long-term effects on battery health and overall device performance.
Slower charging speeds have emerged as another complaint. Although fast charging continues to work, several Galaxy owners say their smartphones now take considerably longer to reach a full charge, making it less convenient for users who rely on quick top-ups throughout the day.
Technology community members believe the problems may be linked to background system processes that fail to complete properly after the software update. These processes may continue running in the background, keeping the processor active unnecessarily and increasing both power consumption and heat generation.
Samsung has not yet issued an official statement confirming or addressing the reported issues. Until a software fix becomes available, users can try several troubleshooting steps. Checking the Battery Usage section in the Settings menu may help identify apps consuming excessive power. Clearing app cache, limiting background activity, and restarting the device can also reduce unnecessary system processes. Users who suspect cloud synchronization is contributing to battery drain may temporarily disable automatic backups to see if performance improves.
