Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif concludes his Kyrgyzstan visit after attending the SCO Summit and SCO Plus meeting, with 16 MoUs signed between the two countries.
BISHKEK: Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif departed Kyrgyzstan for Pakistan on Wednesday after completing his visit, during which Pakistan and Kyrgyzstan signed 16 memoranda of understanding (MoUs) to strengthen cooperation across various sectors.
Kyrgyz President Sadyr Japarov saw off Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif at the airport following the conclusion of his visit.
During his stay in Bishkek, the prime minister participated in and addressed the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) Summit as well as the SCO Plus meeting.
The visit also included a bilateral engagement between Pakistan and Kyrgyzstan, with high-level delegations from both countries holding meetings to discuss avenues for strengthening bilateral cooperation.
The two sides signed 16 MoUs covering various sectors as part of efforts to expand ties and enhance mutually beneficial cooperation.
One of the key understandings reached during the visit was an agreement to increase bilateral trade between Pakistan and Kyrgyzstan to $200 million within two years.
The agreements and bilateral discussions marked a significant step toward expanding economic and sectoral cooperation between the two countries.
