Wana Press Club Condemns Alleged Misconduct, Threatening Behavior Toward Journalist Alam Zeb Wazir

Lorem Ipsum is simply dummy text of the printing and typesetting industry. Lorem Ipsum has been the industry’s standard dummy text ever since the 1500s, when an unknown printer took a galley of type and scrambled it to make a type specimen book. It has survived not only five centuries, but also the leap into electronic typesetting, remaining essentially unchanged.

It was popularised in the 1960s with the release of Letraset sheets containing Lorem Ipsum passages, and more recently with desktop publishing software like Aldus PageMaker including versions of Lorem Ipsum.

Wana District Press Club seeks an impartial inquiry into allegations of misconduct and threatening behavior toward journalist Alam Zeb Wazir.

WANA: The District Press Club Wana has condemned the alleged misconduct and threatening behavior toward journalist Alam Zeb Wazir by Jamshid, a DSP associated with the Khasadar Force at Razmak Police Station, and called for an impartial investigation into the incident.

District Press Club Wana President Qismatullah Wazir said the alleged behavior toward Alam Zeb Wazir was concerning and stressed that journalists should not face pressure, threats or harassment while performing their professional duties.

According to information cited by the press club, Alam Zeb Wazir had shared questions and social media posts concerning alleged corruption and other matters involving Razmak Assistant Commissioner Muhammad Tufail and the local administration. The press club said the journalist subsequently allegedly faced harsh and threatening language.

Qismatullah Wazir said the journalist was allegedly asked who journalists were to expose alleged corruption involving Assistant Commissioner Razmak Muhammad Tufail and the administration. However, the alleged conversation and accusations have not been independently verified.

He said that if questions, complaints or allegations are raised concerning an assistant commissioner or any administrative official, they should be addressed through legal procedures, transparent investigations and available evidence rather than through alleged threats or pressure against journalists.

The press club president called on senior authorities to take notice of the incident and establish an impartial inquiry committee. He said the committee should examine all aspects of the alleged misconduct, threatening behavior and the administrative issues raised by the journalist and determine the facts.

Qismatullah Wazir also said that if any report, social media post or allegation published or shared by a journalist contains an error or an inaccurate claim, the concerned institution has the right to present its position and pursue legal remedies.

However, he maintained that disagreements should be addressed through evidence, arguments and lawful procedures rather than threats or pressure.

He said journalism plays a role in highlighting public issues, raising questions and seeking responses from relevant institutions. He added that authorities have a responsibility to provide journalists with a safe environment in which they can perform their professional duties and exercise freedom of expression.

Qismatullah Wazir said the District Press Club Wana stands with the journalist community and would raise any alleged threats, pressure or harassment through relevant forums.

He urged senior authorities to complete a transparent investigation and take action against anyone found responsible in accordance with the law, while ensuring a secure environment for journalists to perform their duties independently.
