WANA (Roshan Khan)- In a crackdown against drug trafficking in South Waziristan Lower, Wana police arrested two suspects on Sunday and seized a huge quantity of narcotics in a major raid.
The arrested individuals were shifted to Wana city police station, where formal cases have been registered against them and further legal proceedings are underway.
The operation was conducted under the direct supervision of DPO South Waziristan Lower, Muhammad Tahir Shah Wazir, as part of a sustained anti-narcotics campaign aimed at dismantling drug networks, protecting the youth and maintaining law and order across the district.
According to police sources, the raid was executed by a team led by DSP Imranullah Khattak. Acting on credible intelligence from confidential sources, the team learned that Raz Muhammad, son of Hasan Gul, from the Gangi Khel Wazir tribe, had stored a significant quantity of narcotics at his residence and was involved in smuggling drugs to various locations.
Following verification of the information, police conducted a swift raid on the suspect’s house. Although the main suspect managed to evade arrest due to prior warning, the police conducted a thorough search of the premises and recovered a substantial amount of drugs.
SHO Saifullah Wazir City police seized 200 kilograms of cannabis and 20 kilograms of high-quality hashish. Legal action has been initiated against the absconding suspect under the relevant sections of law and raids are ongoing at multiple locations to ensure his apprehension.
Police officials emphasised that this operation was part of a broader and continuous anti-drug campaign. “No leniency will be shown toward drug traffickers,” said the spokesperson. Wana police reiterated their commitment to bringing all offenders to justice and continuing uninterrupted operations until the complete eradication of this societal threat.
Commenting on the raid, DPO Muhammad Tahir Shah Wazir stated that drug traffickers were enemies of society who threaten the future of youth. He confirmed that the anti-narcotics campaign would continue under a strict zero-tolerance policy, with stringent measures intensified to curb the menace.
The DPO further highlighted that South Waziristan Lower police were taking all necessary steps to safeguard lives and property, maintain public order and protect the younger generation from the destructive impact of drugs. He urged the public to cooperate with law enforcement agencies and immediately report any suspicious activity to nearby police stations or the police helpline.
