The Election Commission of Pakistan has scheduled a hearing on July 8 regarding Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan’s intra-party elections, a case that could influence the party’s electoral status ahead of future polls.
The future of Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan (TLP) and its election symbol has come under renewed attention after the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) scheduled a hearing on the party’s intra-party elections case for July 8.
The hearing follows proceedings in which the ECP reserved its verdict on June 17 in three separate matters, including the issue related to TLP’s internal party elections. The commission will now resume consideration of the case to determine whether the party has fulfilled the legal requirements governing intra-party elections.
Under Pakistan’s election laws, political parties are required to conduct intra-party elections in accordance with the law and submit the necessary documentation to the Election Commission. Compliance with these requirements is closely linked to a party’s eligibility to retain its official election symbol.
Although speculation has emerged over whether TLP could lose its election symbol, no final decision has been announced yet. The July 8 hearing is expected to clarify the party’s legal position, but the Election Commission will make its determination only after hearing the case.
