Top military leaders praise national resilience and vow continued defense against terrorism and threats.
ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s top military leadership on Sunday extended heartfelt greetings to the nation on the 86th Pakistan Day, reaffirming a commitment to national security, democratic stability, and unity.
According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), Chief of Army Staff Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, Chief of the Naval Staff Admiral Naveed Ashraf, and Chief of the Air Staff Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Baber Sidhu praised the historic significance of March 23, 1940, calling it a defining moment that shaped the vision for an independent homeland.
The military leadership highlighted that Pakistan continues to progress under democratic values while upholding the enduring principles of Islam. They emphasized that despite ongoing challenges such as terrorism and extremism, the armed forces, in coordination with law enforcement agencies and the resilient public, remain steadfast in safeguarding the country.
“The armed forces are fully prepared to defend Pakistan’s sovereignty and territorial integrity against all threats,” the statement said, reiterating vigilance along borders and commitment to internal security.
The leaders also described Pakistan as a responsible member of the global community, striving for peace, stability, and international cooperation.
Pakistan Day was marked nationwide with traditional ceremonies, including a 31-gun salute in the federal capital and 21-gun salutes in provincial capitals. Special prayers were offered for the country’s prosperity.
This year’s celebrations were observed with simplicity amid regional tensions, with the Pakistan Day parade canceled as part of austerity measures.
