ISLAMABAD – Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has reassured the public that Pakistan has sufficient petroleum stocks to meet domestic demand. Chairing a high-level meeting with government and private sector officials, the PM emphasized efforts to stabilize fuel prices and prioritize public relief amid the ongoing regional situation.
Over the past three weeks, Rs 125 billion from the development budget has been allocated to ensure fuel affordability. Sharif highlighted the creation of a digital dashboard to monitor petroleum supply and streamline distribution. The meeting also unveiled a proposed fuel support app to assist motorcycle and rickshaw drivers directly.
The Prime Minister directed coordination with provincial governments, Azad Kashmir, and Gilgit-Baltistan to ensure efficient fuel distribution and preparation for upcoming import arrangements in April. Deputy Prime Minister, federal ministers, and the Governor of the State Bank participated, with other officials joining via video conference.
