ISLAMABAD – Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has officially resumed direct flights between Pakistan and London after a six-year suspension, marking a major milestone in the country’s aviation sector. The current schedule includes four weekly flights: three from Islamabad starting March 29 and one from Lahore starting March 30, primarily using Boeing 777 aircraft.
The resumption has been welcomed by British High Commissioner Jane Marriott, who highlighted the large Pakistani diaspora in the UK and noted that the flights will strengthen travel, trade, and bilateral relations. Pakistan’s Defence Secretary described the move as an important day for the aviation industry, symbolizing the return of a long-standing connection between the two nations.
The revival of flights is expected to boost tourism, business, and trade between Pakistan and the UK. Direct flights from Karachi to London are also planned to resume shortly, further enhancing connectivity. PIA had previously restarted direct flights to Manchester in October 2025 after a five-year suspension.
