White House spokesperson Karoline Leavitt has claimed that “positive discussions” are underway regarding the Iran conflict, stating that Iran has agreed to some US proposals. Speaking during a press briefing, she said a timeline of four to six weeks remains in place for developments related to the situation.
Leavitt noted that there is often a difference between private diplomatic communication and public statements, adding that Iran’s privately conveyed messages will be carefully assessed. She also said President Donald Trump may ask Arab countries to help share the financial burden of the conflict, though no final decision has been made.
She further stated that the United States does not support Iran’s proposal to impose toll charges in the Strait of Hormuz, expressing expectations that around 20 oil tankers will pass through the route in the coming days.
Meanwhile, Iran has denied any direct talks with Washington. Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmail Baghaei said no direct negotiations have taken place, and that communication has only occurred through intermediaries.
