The young actor Aashir Wajahat says fan-driven “shipping culture” is natural but clarifies his relationship status with Areeka Haq.
Pakistani actor and singer Aashir Wajahat has addressed ongoing speculation about his relationship with social media personality Areeka Haq, offering clarity while appreciating fan enthusiasm.
Speaking during an appearance on a YouTube show hosted by Maliha Rehman, the rising star shared his thoughts on the popular “shipping culture” that often links on-screen pairs in real life. Aashir said he enjoys the trend and considers it a sign of audience engagement and affection.
“I love this shipping culture by the fans,” he said, adding that such behavior is not limited to Pakistan but has long existed in global entertainment. He referenced how audiences of the iconic sitcom Friends rooted for fictional couple Ross and Rachel to be together off-screen as well.
However, Aashir clarified that his connection with Areeka Haq is purely based on friendship. “In our case, it’s not like that,” he explained. “Areeka Haq and I share a beautiful friendship, and there is nothing like being in a relationship.”
Despite denying any romantic involvement, the actor kept the tone light, acknowledging the unpredictable nature of life. “Anything can happen, so let it be,” he remarked.
Aashir Wajahat, known for his performances in dramas like Pinjra and his hit song Sadqay, continues to gain popularity among younger audiences, with fans closely following both his professional and personal life.
