Metro Bus Service Restored in Islamabad-Rawalpindi After Security Disruptions Linked to US-Iran Talks

Lorem Ipsum is simply dummy text of the printing and typesetting industry. Lorem Ipsum has been the industry’s standard dummy text ever since the 1500s, when an unknown printer took a galley of type and scrambled it to make a type specimen book. It has survived not only five centuries, but also the leap into electronic typesetting, remaining essentially unchanged.

It was popularised in the 1960s with the release of Letraset sheets containing Lorem Ipsum passages, and more recently with desktop publishing software like Aldus PageMaker including versions of Lorem Ipsum.

Partial reopening of Metro Bus brings relief to commuters, but key Islamabad route remains closed amid ongoing security concerns

ISLAMABAD: Public transport services in the twin cities of Islamabad and Rawalpindi have begun returning to normal after a week-long suspension triggered by heightened security measures linked to sensitive regional diplomatic engagements, including discussions surrounding US-Iran talks.

Authorities confirmed that the Metro Bus Service has resumed full operations between Saddar Station and Shaheed-e-Millat Station, restoring a critical transport artery for thousands of daily commuters. However, the route between Parade Ground Station and Pak Secretariat Station remains suspended until further notice due to ongoing security concerns in the high-sensitivity Red Zone area.

Officials from the Metro Bus administration said the suspension had been implemented under directives from the district administration as part of broader precautionary protocols. The restrictions coincided with increased vigilance across the federal capital during high-level diplomatic activity in the region, where global attention has been focused on evolving US-Iran negotiations.

In Rawalpindi, the Green Line bus service which had also been halted for seven days has now fully resumed operations. Local authorities stated that the decision followed a comprehensive review of the security environment, signaling a gradual easing of restrictions as the situation stabilizes.

The disruption had significantly impacted daily life in both cities, particularly for office workers, students, and low-income commuters who rely heavily on public transportation. Many were forced to seek costly alternatives or adjust routines during the suspension period.

Despite the partial restoration, officials have not provided a clear timeline for reopening the remaining closed segment in Islamabad. They emphasized that future decisions will depend on ongoing security assessments and the trajectory of diplomatic engagements in the region.

Authorities maintained that the temporary suspension was a precautionary measure aimed at safeguarding public safety during a sensitive geopolitical phase. Commuters have been advised to stay updated through official channels for further announcements regarding route restoration.
