Pakistani film actress Meera has once again grabbed public attention after claiming that legendary Indian filmmaker Yash Chopra had offered her a leading role opposite Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan in the 2012 blockbuster film Jab Tak Hai Jaan.
The actress made the revelation during a recent interview with Discover Pakistan while promoting her upcoming Pakistani feature film Psycho, which is scheduled for release on Eid ul Adha. The film stars Shaan Shahid opposite Meera, with the actress playing the central role in the psychological thriller.
Speaking during the interview, Meera claimed that she had originally been approached for the role eventually played by Katrina Kaif in Jab Tak Hai Jaan. According to her, the project was to be filmed in London and she had received a warm welcome from several major Bollywood personalities during her time in India.
“I was offered the role that Katrina Kaif played,” Meera said in the interview. She further claimed that she met several Indian celebrities, including Amitabh Bachchan, Shah Rukh Khan, Sanjay Dutt, Karan Johar and legendary actor Dilip Kumar. Meera also stated that she stayed at Dilip Kumar’s residence for around 10 days during her visit.
The actress’s comments quickly went viral across social media platforms, triggering mixed reactions from users. While some fans appreciated her confidence and admired her ability to remain relevant in the entertainment industry, many others questioned the authenticity of her claims.
Several social media users mocked the statement, with critics suggesting that Meera often makes sensational remarks to stay in the headlines. Others described the claim as “hard to believe,” especially given the lack of official confirmation regarding her alleged casting in the Yash Chopra film.
Despite the online trolling, Meera remains one of Pakistan’s most talked-about entertainment personalities. Known for her outspoken interviews and controversial statements, the actress has consistently managed to dominate digital conversations throughout her career.
Her upcoming film Psycho is already generating curiosity among fans, particularly because of the reunion between Meera and Shaan Shahid on the big screen. Industry observers believe the controversy surrounding her latest statements may further boost public interest in the film ahead of its Eid ul Adha release.
