Murree authorities have imposed Section 144 across key tourist areas of the hill station ahead of the Eidul Azha holidays, introducing strict crowd-control measures that will remain effective until May 31. According to official notifications and multiple media reports, only tourist families will be allowed entry to the famous Mall Road, while bachelor tourists have been barred from entering the area.
The restrictions were enforced due to an expected surge in tourist arrivals during the holiday season. Officials said the move aims to maintain law and order, ensure smooth traffic flow, and prevent overcrowding in Murree, which frequently experiences severe congestion during peak travel periods.
Under the imposed restrictions, authorities have also banned hooliganism, fireworks, aerial firing, and public display of weapons in the area. The district administration warned that strict legal action would be taken against anyone violating the orders issued under Section 144.
Reports further stated that more than 700 police and traffic personnel have been deployed across Murree to monitor tourist activity and manage security arrangements during the Eid holidays. Security checkpoints and surveillance measures have also been increased around Mall Road and nearby tourist spots.
Murree has witnessed repeated crowd-management issues in recent years, especially during snowfall seasons, Eid holidays, and New Year celebrations. Authorities have previously imposed similar family-only entry restrictions on Mall Road to reduce disturbances and improve public safety for visiting families.
Officials have advised tourists to cooperate with law enforcement agencies, follow travel advisories, and avoid unnecessary rush during peak hours to ensure a safe and smooth travel experience in the hill station.
