ISLAMABAD: In a significant administrative move ahead of the federal budget, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has approved the appointment of four new parliamentary secretaries in key government departments.
According to an official notification issued by the Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs, the appointments have been made to strengthen coordination between parliament and federal ministries at a crucial time when the government is preparing to implement its fiscal and development agenda for the upcoming financial year.
Under the new appointments, Muhammad Nauman has been designated as Parliamentary Secretary for Planning, Development and Special Initiatives. The ministry plays a central role in overseeing national development projects, economic planning and implementation of strategic initiatives across the country.
Daniyal Ahmad has been appointed Parliamentary Secretary for the Establishment Division, which is responsible for administrative affairs, civil service management and key governance matters within the federal government.
Meanwhile, Shaista Khan has been assigned the role of Parliamentary Secretary for National Food Security and Research. The ministry remains a critical institution for addressing agricultural productivity, food supply challenges and policies aimed at ensuring food security for Pakistan’s growing population.
In another key appointment, Akhtar Bibi has been named Parliamentary Secretary for the Board of Investment, an institution tasked with promoting domestic and foreign investment and facilitating business growth across Pakistan.
The appointments come at a time when the government is seeking to accelerate economic reforms, attract investment and ensure smooth implementation of development policies following the presentation of the federal budget. Political observers view the move as part of broader efforts to strengthen parliamentary oversight and improve coordination between lawmakers and executive institutions.
