A Rawalpindi resident was injured after allegedly being shot in the leg during a late-night confrontation, prompting police to register a case under attempted murder provisions.
RAWALPINDI: A late-night confrontation in Rawalpindi turned violent when a young man was allegedly shot and injured during an encounter outside his residence, according to a police report filed at Waris Khan Police Station.
The incident occurred in the early hours of June 17, when the complainant, identified as 26-year-old Imad Ali, reportedly received information from his younger brother that a man named Umar Jadoon was looking for him. Shortly afterward, the complainant contacted the suspect by phone and was allegedly asked to come outside.
According to the FIR, the suspect arrived at the scene with companions on a motorcycle. A verbal exchange reportedly escalated, after which the accused allegedly produced a pistol and opened fire. The complainant stated that two shots were fired, with one bullet striking his left leg, causing him to bleed and collapse.
The suspects allegedly fled the scene immediately after the shooting. Family members, including the victim’s brother and sisters, were cited as eyewitnesses to the incident.
The injured man was shifted to Benazir Bhutto Hospital (BBH) Rawalpindi, where he received medical treatment and his statement was formally recorded. Police initiated legal proceedings and registered a case under Sections 324 and 34 of the Pakistan Penal Code, relating to attempted murder and common intention.
