Pakistan’s latest inflation data shows continued pressure on household budgets as food and daily-use items become more expensive.
Pakistan’s inflation pressure has intensified as weekly inflation climbed to 15.28 percent, with rising food prices and essential commodities putting additional strain on consumers, according to the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics.
The latest weekly report revealed that inflation increased by 0.46 percent during the week, reflecting a continued rise in the cost of daily necessities. The increase was mainly driven by higher prices of food items and commonly used household products.
According to the report, prices of 25 essential items increased, while 11 commodities became cheaper. Prices of 15 items remained stable during the period.
Among food items, tomatoes recorded the biggest increase, becoming 16.65 percent more expensive. Potato prices rose by 6.82 percent, while chicken prices increased by 5.60 percent. Other essentials including washing soap, LPG, milk, yogurt, mutton, and eggs also saw price hikes.
Some relief was recorded in selected items. Onion prices declined by 2.98 percent, garlic became 2.51 percent cheaper, and banana prices dropped by 1.28 percent.
Fuel prices provided limited relief, with diesel prices falling by 1.06 percent and petrol decreasing by 0.52 percent. Prices of pulses and wheat flour also showed slight reductions.
