After Major H-9 Market Emergency, Authorities Launch Rapid Inquiry and Security Measures

Lorem Ipsum is simply dummy text of the printing and typesetting industry. Lorem Ipsum has been the industry’s standard dummy text ever since the 1500s, when an unknown printer took a galley of type and scrambled it to make a type specimen book. It has survived not only five centuries, but also the leap into electronic typesetting, remaining essentially unchanged.

It was popularised in the 1960s with the release of Letraset sheets containing Lorem Ipsum passages, and more recently with desktop publishing software like Aldus PageMaker including versions of Lorem Ipsum.

ISLAMABAD: Authorities in Islamabad have launched a high-level investigation into the recent incident at H-9 Bazaar, forming an eight-member committee tasked with determining the cause of the event and evaluating the response of emergency services.

According to an official notification issued by the Deputy Commissioner’s Office on June 23, 2026, the committee has been directed to submit its findings within three days. The inquiry team is headed by the Additional Deputy Commissioner General of Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) and includes representatives from the Metropolitan Corporation Islamabad, Islamabad Police, Rescue and Emergency Services, Capital Development Authority (CDA), Civil Defense, and district administration.

The committee’s mandate includes reviewing the response time of rescue services, identifying the cause of the fire and factors that contributed to its spread, assessing the extent of losses, and recommending ways to safely operate unaffected portions of the market. The panel will also provide any additional recommendations deemed necessary.

Officials said copies of the notification have been forwarded to senior authorities, including the Chief Commissioner Islamabad, Commissioner Rawalpindi Division, and Inspector General of Islamabad Police. As a precautionary measure, additional police personnel have been ordered to remain deployed at H-9 Sunday Bazaar until the committee completes its inspection.
