Pakistan’s military says intelligence-based operations in Kharan and Mastung resulted in the deaths of eight suspected militants, including an alleged suicide bomber, as counterterrorism efforts continue across Balochistan.
Security forces killed eight suspected militants during two intelligence-based operations (IBOs) in Balochistan’s Kharan and Mastung districts, according to a statement issued by the military’s media wing, ISPR, on Saturday.
The ISPR said the operations targeted militants it described as belonging to the Indian proxy group “Fitna al Hindustan.” The first operation was conducted on June 25 in Kharan after intelligence reports indicated the movement of suspected militants in the area. During what the military described as a precise operation, security forces killed three suspected militants while several others were reportedly injured.
A second intelligence-based operation took place on June 26 in Mastung after security agencies received information about the presence of an alleged suicide bomber. Following an intense exchange of fire, security forces killed five suspected militants, including the alleged suicide bomber, according to the ISPR.
The military said troops recovered weapons, ammunition, improvised explosive devices (IEDs), and motorcycles from the militants’ hideout. A clearance operation remains underway to locate and eliminate any remaining suspects in the area.
