Two suspects were arrested in separate cybercrime operations after allegedly targeting victims through online blackmail, harassment, and the misuse of private content.
LAHORE: The National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) has intensified its crackdown on cybercriminals, arresting two suspects in separate operations linked to online blackmail and digital harassment in Punjab.
The operations were conducted under the special directives of Punjab Director Operations Muhammad Ali Waseem as authorities continue efforts to curb cyber offenses, particularly those targeting women and vulnerable internet users.
In the first case, registered under FIR No. 122/2026, NCCIA officials arrested Haroon Qureshi for allegedly attempting to disrupt a woman’s married life by sending her private photographs to her husband. Investigators recovered a mobile phone from the suspect, and digital evidence reportedly played a crucial role in the arrest.
In a separate operation, the NCCIA Faisalabad team conducted a raid in the Sherwan Kalan area of Abbottabad and apprehended Muhammad Anwar, the prime suspect in FIR No. 91/2026.
According to investigators, Anwar allegedly created a fake female identity on social media to befriend victims and lure them into online relationships. Authorities claim he later used private content to blackmail victims, extorting money through digital payment services.
Officials said one victim was forced to pay Rs40,000 via Easypaisa before the suspect allegedly shared private material on WhatsApp after additional payment demands were rejected.
