FIA launched two separate operations in Sargodha, targeting alleged corruption in passport services and the illegal issuance of national identity cards through forged documents.
SARGODHA: The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has launched a major crackdown against alleged corruption and misuse of Pakistan’s national identity system, arresting seven individuals, including the assistant director and office in-charge of the NADRA office in Bhalwal.
The operations were carried out by the FIA Sargodha Circle under the directions of the Director General FIA and the Director of the FIA Faisalabad Zone.
In the first operation, FIA officials arrested one employee of the Regional Passport Office along with three alleged agents. The suspects are accused of illegally collecting money from citizens in exchange for passport-related services, an allegation that is now under investigation.
In a separate raid, FIA arrested Bhalwal NADRA Assistant Director and Office In-Charge Shawal Akram, Data Entry Officer (DEO) Hasnat Ahmed, and DEO Rana Sohaib. According to the FIA, the officials allegedly facilitated the issuance of Pakistani Computerized National Identity Cards (CNICs) to three Afghan nationals using forged documents and fraudulent information.
The agency said both cases are under investigation and additional evidence is being collected to determine the full scope of the alleged networks. Authorities added that all individuals found involved will face legal action in accordance with the law.
