More than 100 journalists from around 100 countries have gathered in Beijing for a three-and-a-half-month program focused on journalism training, cultural exchange and international media cooperation.
BEIJING: The China International Press Communication Center (CIPCC) has officially launched the second half of its 2026 program at Renmin University of China, bringing together more than 100 journalists from approximately 100 countries for three and a half months of journalism training and cultural exchange.
The opening ceremony on Monday was hosted by CIPCC Director Yu Lei and featured remarks from senior Chinese officials, including Assistant Foreign Minister Hong Lei, China Public Diplomacy Association Vice President Tong Xiaoling and Renmin University CPC Committee Secretary Zhang Donggang.
A Platform for Global South Media Cooperation
The CIPCC program, now in its 13th year, has developed from an initiative launched in 2014 into an international platform connecting media professionals from developing countries and regions.
This year’s participants come from Africa, the Asia-Pacific, Latin America, Eurasia, the Arab world and Central and Eastern Europe.
Journalists participating in the program also played a prominent role during the opening ceremony. Mark Longyen from Nigeria and Mahendra Subedi from Nepal delivered speeches as representatives of the attending journalists.
Journalism Training and Cultural Exchange
Participants are accommodated on the Renmin University campus, allowing them to experience university life while taking part in a program combining journalism training, diplomatic briefings, cultural activities and field visits to different provinces and regions across China.
The program will also provide practical exposure to China’s media sector through internships at major Chinese media organizations, including CGTN, Xinhua News Agency and People’s Daily.
The program is scheduled to continue through mid-December, with its organizers seeking to strengthen connections between China and the developing world through journalism training, professional exchange and cross-cultural understanding.
