Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman discuss regional tensions, Saudi security and efforts to promote peace and stability.
LAHORE: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif held a telephone conversation with Saudi Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud on Sunday, reaffirming Pakistan’s solidarity with Saudi Arabia amid recent regional tensions.
According to the Prime Minister’s Office, the conversation was held in a warm and friendly atmosphere. Shehbaz Sharif reiterated Pakistan’s strong condemnation of recent attacks by the Houthis on Saudi Arabia, particularly attacks targeting the country’s civilian and economic infrastructure.
The prime minister expressed complete solidarity with the Saudi leadership and people, saying the recent Houthi actions posed a threat to regional peace and security and could further disrupt the global economy and energy supplies.
Shehbaz Sharif said he would continue efforts to help reduce tensions and promote peace in the region alongside Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir and Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar.
The prime minister also praised Mohammed bin Salman for what he described as wise and far-sighted leadership during the ongoing crisis.
During the call, Shehbaz Sharif conveyed his best wishes and sincere respect to Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud.
According to the Prime Minister’s Office, the Saudi crown prince appreciated Pakistan’s continued and steadfast support for Saudi Arabia as well as its efforts to promote peace and stability in the region.
