Apple is reportedly preparing new touchscreen MacBooks, an OLED iPad mini and M6-powered MacBook Pro and iMac models, with a media event expected in Los Angeles on Oct. 28.

Apple could introduce several new products in late October, including its first touchscreen MacBooks, an iPad mini with an OLED display and updated MacBook Pro and iMac models powered by the company’s next-generation M6 chip.

According to Bloomberg journalist Mark Gurman, Apple has invited selected media representatives to an all-day product launch experience scheduled for Oct. 28 in Los Angeles. The event is expected to allow attendees to explore the company’s upcoming devices.

Apple has not officially confirmed the event date or announced which products will be unveiled.

Apple Touchscreen MacBooks Could Mark a Major Change

One of the most notable potential additions is Apple’s long-rumored touchscreen MacBook lineup. The laptops are expected to introduce touch input to Mac computers, giving users another way to interact with macOS.

Apple has traditionally emphasized keyboards and trackpads rather than touchscreen displays for its Mac laptops. Introducing touch support would represent a significant change in the company’s approach to laptop design and user interaction.

The new MacBooks could appeal to users who prefer touch controls for certain tasks. However, Apple has not confirmed their specifications, features, pricing or availability.

OLED Display Upgrade Expected for iPad Mini

Apple is also reportedly preparing an iPad mini featuring an OLED display, potentially bringing improved screen technology to its compact tablet lineup.

OLED displays can deliver deeper blacks, higher contrast and more vivid colors than conventional LCD panels. These characteristics could enhance the viewing experience for users who watch videos, read digital content or use their tablets for everyday tasks.

Details about the rumored iPad mini’s specifications, price and release date remain unconfirmed.

M6-Powered MacBook Pro and iMac Also Expected

The reported launch could include an updated 14-inch MacBook Pro and a refreshed iMac featuring Apple’s M6 chip.

The next-generation processor is expected to be a central component of Apple’s upcoming Mac hardware. However, the company has not disclosed details about its performance, power efficiency or other improvements.

A new MacBook Pro could attract professionals who require powerful hardware for demanding workloads, while an updated iMac would offer desktop users a refreshed option within Apple’s computer lineup.

When Could Apple Announce the New Devices?

Gurman previously reported that Apple was planning a product announcement for Oct. 27. The reported media event scheduled for Oct. 28 has raised the possibility that the company could announce its products one day before journalists receive hands-on access.

However, this remains unconfirmed. Apple has not clarified whether the product announcement and media event will take place on separate days.

If the reports prove accurate, late October could bring substantial updates to Apple’s Mac and iPad product families. Consumers will need to wait for an official announcement to learn which devices will launch, along with their specifications, prices and availability.
