Pakistan Railways suspends selected train services in Balochistan for one day as essential maintenance work affects routes connecting Quetta with other parts of the country.

Pakistan Railways has suspended selected train services in Balochistan for one day to carry out essential repair and maintenance work, railway officials said Thursday.

The suspension affects the Jaffar Express and the Jinnah Peoples Train, disrupting rail travel to and from Quetta. Officials said the temporary measures were necessary to complete maintenance work, although details of the repairs were not immediately available.

The Jaffar Express, which operates between Quetta and Peshawar, will not depart from Quetta on Thursday, according to railway officials. The Jinnah Peoples Train has also been suspended for the day.

In a separate restriction affecting the Jaffar Express travelling from Peshawar to Quetta, the train will operate only as far as Jacobabad in Sindh province. It will not complete its scheduled journey to Quetta.

The temporary changes have affected train connections between Balochistan and other parts of Pakistan, potentially disrupting travel plans for passengers relying on the affected services.

Pakistan Railways has advised passengers travelling on the affected routes to confirm their train schedules before making travel arrangements. Passengers should check with railway authorities for updated departure and arrival information to avoid unnecessary delays or inconvenience.

Officials said the suspension would remain in effect for one day. However, further details about the nature of the maintenance work and the precise timing for the resumption of normal train operations were not immediately available.

The temporary suspension highlights the importance of maintenance work in keeping railway services operational. Until the affected services resume their regular schedules, passengers travelling to or from Quetta may need to adjust their plans according to the restrictions announced by Pakistan Railways.
