PESHAWAR: Police killed two suspected terrorists, including a suicide bomber, during an operation in Lakki Marwat district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, while a separate militant attack on a police station in Tank left three police personnel injured, authorities said on Wednesday.

According to Lakki Marwat police, the operation was launched near Gundi Chowk after authorities received information about the presence of suspected militants in the area. An exchange of fire followed, resulting in the deaths of two suspects, including a suspected suicide attacker.

Police said another suspect was wounded during the operation, while a fourth managed to escape.

Authorities said the suspects were allegedly preparing to carry out a major terrorist attack, which was prevented by the security operation.

Police and security forces conduct an operation in Lakki Marwat, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, following reports of suspected militant activity.

During a search of the site, police recovered weapons, ammunition, landmines, flags belonging to a banned organisation, communication equipment and other prohibited material. The recovered items were taken into custody as part of the operation.

The provincial police chief praised the Lakki Marwat police team for its performance and announced rewards for the personnel involved. The district police officer also reiterated that militants would not be allowed to re-establish their presence in the district.

Meanwhile, in a separate incident, militants attacked Malazai Police Station in Tank district late Tuesday, using a drone and opening heavy fire, according to police.

Three police personnel sustained injuries in the attack. They were identified as Head Constable Ali Allah, Constable Adnan and Constable Saif Ali.

Police and security forces responded to the assault and returned fire against the attackers. The injured personnel were subsequently shifted to a nearby hospital for medical treatment.

Following the incident, security forces cordoned off the surrounding area and launched a search operation to locate the attackers and their alleged facilitators, police said.

The two incidents involved separate security operations in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, with the Lakki Marwat operation resulting in the deaths of two suspected militants and the Tank attack leaving three police personnel wounded.
