Information Minister Attaullah Tarar says NAB will investigate the Constitution One Avenue case on merit, while investors’ interests will be protected and no one will be above the law.

Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar has said that the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) will investigate the Constitution One Avenue case on merit, stressing that investors must be protected and no individual should be above the law.

Speaking at a news conference, Tarar said the government believed in equality before the law and that there should be no distinction between rich and poor people living in the same city.

“One city cannot have different standards for the poor and the rich,” the information minister said, emphasising the need for equal treatment under the law.

Addressing concerns surrounding investments in Constitution One Avenue, Tarar assured investors that their interests would be protected.

He said the protection of those who had invested in Constitution One Avenue would be ensured, underlining the importance of safeguarding investors while allowing the relevant investigation process to proceed.

The minister also said NAB would conduct its investigation strictly on merit, indicating that the matter would be examined in accordance with the applicable standards of accountability.

Referring to the joint investigation team (JIT) report, Tarar said the team had identified shortcomings in its findings. He added that the report had been appreciated by the federal cabinet.

“The JIT has pointed out shortcomings in its report,” the minister said, referring to the findings presented by the investigation team.

Tarar described the developments as part of a broader process of ensuring equality and accountability, saying the law applied equally to everyone, regardless of their financial position or influence.

“This is the process of equality under which no one is beyond the reach of the law,” he said.

His remarks highlighted the government’s stated position on the Constitution One Avenue matter, particularly the need to balance investor protection with accountability and a merit-based investigation.

The minister’s statements also placed emphasis on the JIT’s findings and the federal cabinet’s response to its report.
