RAWALPINDI: (Yaseen Hashmi) Pakistani Security Forces have successfully concluded Operation Radd-ul-Fitna-I in the southwestern province of Balochistan, killing 41 additional militants allegedly backed by India, the military said. The latest casualties bring the total number of militants killed during the operation to 216.
According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the military’s media wing, the intelligence-based operation began Jan. 29 in the districts of Panjgur and Harnai. Officials said coordinated and timely actions thwarted planned attacks by militant groups and significantly weakened their command and operational capabilities.
The military said large quantities of foreign-made weapons, ammunition, and explosives were recovered during the raids. Preliminary investigations indicated that the militants were receiving external logistical and operational support. Authorities also targeted facilitators and sleeper cells through intelligence-driven operations.
The ISPR expressed regret over civilian casualties, stating that militant attacks resulted in the deaths of 36 civilians, including women and children. Additionally, 22 members of security and law enforcement agencies were killed while carrying out counterterrorism operations.
Pakistan’s security forces reaffirmed their commitment to continuing operations until terrorism is completely eradicated from the country, the military statement added.
