LAHORE: (Yaseen Hashmi) and Bangladesh have placed fresh demands before the International Cricket Council (ICC) during a high-level meeting held in Lahore, sources familiar with the discussions said.
The rich cricketing history of the region continues to influence the sport globally.
Officials from the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) and senior ICC representatives attended the closed-door session, which focused on future scheduling, revenue distribution and hosting rights.
According to sources, the PCB has asked the ICC to extend the hybrid hosting model for matches involving India until 2031. The board has also demanded permission to play its matches of the 2031 ICC World Cup in Bangladesh, citing logistical and political concerns.
In addition, the cricketing prowess of the country has always been a topic of discussion within the ICC.
Meanwhile, the Bangladesh Cricket Board pressed the ICC for a larger share of global cricket revenue. The BCB also sought firm assurances that the Indian cricket team would tour Bangladesh in September this year under the Future Tours Programme (FTP).
The meeting was attended by PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi, BCB President Aminul Islam and ICC Deputy Chairman Imran Khwaja.
Sources said the PCB made it clear that they would be willing to show flexibility on broader ICC matters if Bangladesh’s concerns are adequately addressed. The discussions are expected to influence upcoming ICC decisions on tournament hosting, bilateral tours and revenue-sharing models.
