Israeli officials report nearly 2,000 injured since clashes with Iran began, while the military warns it will target anyone involved in appointing a future Iranian Supreme Leader
Jerusalem: Israel’s Health Ministry says 1,929 people have been evacuated to hospitals since hostilities with Iran intensified, highlighting the growing human toll of the escalating conflict.
Officials said many of the injuries were caused by missile strikes and clashes near sensitive border areas, though authorities have not yet released a detailed breakdown of the severity of the casualties.
At the same time, the Israeli military issued an unusually direct warning about Iran’s political leadership. In a series of statements, the army said it would target anyone involved in selecting a new Iranian Supreme Leader, signaling that the process to replace Ayatollah Ali Khamenei could become a strategic focus.
Military officials said Israel would actively track and pursue individuals participating in the appointment of a successor and remain alert to future leadership developments in Tehran.
Analysts say the statements mark a sharp escalation in rhetoric, suggesting the conflict could expand beyond traditional military targets to include political and strategic figures within Iran’s power structure.
Meanwhile, Iranian media reported that Mohammad Mehdi Mirbagheri, a member of Iran’s Assembly of Experts, said there is broad agreement on Khamenei’s successor, although some procedural matters still need to be finalized.
