US Central Command confirms another fatality after Iranian offensive on March 1 targeted American bases across the Middle East
WEB DESK: The number of American personnel killed following Iran’s large-scale attacks on March 1 has risen to seven after a US servicemember died from injuries sustained during strikes in Saudi Arabia.
According to the United States Central Command, the servicemember had remained in critical condition since the Iranian offensive targeted several US bases and infrastructure across the Middle East. The military confirmed the death on Sunday but withheld the individual’s identity in line with protocol until family members are formally notified.
The fatality is the first reported US combat-related death from the Saudi Arabian theatre of the conflict. Earlier, six US Army Reserve soldiers were killed during the same wave of attacks in Kuwait, intensifying concerns over the expanding regional confrontation.
The announcement came just a day after a dignified transfer ceremony at Dover Air Force Base in Delaware, where the remains of the six soldiers killed at Port of Shuaiba were returned to the United States. Donald Trump attended the ceremony alongside senior military leaders and met with the families of the fallen troops.
Speaking to reporters afterward, Trump said the meetings strengthened his resolve to continue the campaign against Iran. He acknowledged more casualties could occur but described them as an unavoidable part of war.
Separately, the Pentagon confirmed that a New York National Guard soldier died at Camp Buehring on March 6 due to a health-related incident. Officials said the death was not linked to combat operations and remains under investigation.
