Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has decided to transform the Crime Control Department (CCD) into a premier investigation agency in the province. According to an official statement, the government plans to equip the department with modern forensic technology, advanced investigative skills, and state-of-the-art machinery to strengthen its ability to track and monitor criminals.
The initiative aims to upgrade CCD into one of Pakistan’s most modern law-enforcement institutions. Authorities say the department will receive the latest surveillance and monitoring equipment to improve crime detection and investigation processes.
The statement further noted that due to the department’s effective role in reducing crime and gaining public confidence, the scope of CCD will be expanded. The department will be developed along the lines of the world’s top five crime control agencies. As part of the reform plan a modern research and investigation center will also be established within the department.
Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has also approved the construction of a state of the art CCD headquarters. New offices police stations and residential facilities will be built for CCD staff in every division, district, and tehsil across the province.
The government also plans to introduce a new law to curb illegal weapons. Officials claim that CCD operations have already significantly reduced murders, crimes against women and robberies across Punjab.
