Peshawar: Aimal Wali Khan, President of the Awami National Party (ANP), strongly condemned the killing of innocent people and questioned the justification used by extremists who claim to be both Pashtun and Muslim.
Speaking at a meeting with party leaders at the Bacha Khan Center, Khan asked how those responsible could justify the killing of their own Pashtun people. “Which interpretation of Islam allows bombings in mosques, and where in the Quran, Sunnah, or obligatory practices is the killing of innocent men, women, or the elderly permitted?” he said.
He emphasized that Islam teaches peace, love, respect, and humanity, and that oppression and bloodshed at gunpoint are never justified. Khan also highlighted that such acts of terror and violence violate Pashtunwali, the traditional Pashtun code of ethics.
Khan’s remarks were aimed at calling attention to the human and moral cost of extremist violence and reinforcing that both religion and cultural values uphold the protection of innocent lives.
