Bannu has once again become the focus of national concern after a deadly terrorist attack on the Fatah Khel Police Station left 18 police personnel martyred, triggering widespread grief and strong political reaction across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Chief Minister Muhammad Sohail Afridi strongly condemned the attack, calling it a brutal act of terrorism aimed at destabilizing peace in the province. He expressed deep sorrow over the loss of lives and extended condolences to the families of the fallen officers.
In his statement, the chief minister directed authorities to ensure the best possible medical treatment for the injured personnel, emphasizing that no effort should be spared in their care and recovery.
He also offered prayers for the elevation of ranks of the martyrs and for the swift recovery of those wounded in the attack. The chief minister reaffirmed that the provincial government stands firmly with every family affected by terrorism.
Muhammad Sohail Afridi stated that the fight against terrorism is not limited to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa but is a collective national struggle. He criticized broader policy failures, saying that decisions made in isolation and imposed frameworks had contributed to growing instability in the country.
Highlighting the role of law enforcement, he praised the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police for their frontline sacrifices in the war against terrorism, stating that their courage and resilience remain unmatched.
He further vowed that the sacrifices of the martyrs would not be wasted and pledged that the government would continue its efforts until the complete elimination of terrorism from the region.
The attack has once again underscored the persistent security challenges in parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, particularly in border and sensitive districts where security forces continue to face frequent militant threats.
