A deadly roof collapse at a private school in Dera Ghazi Khan killed four children and injured several others, triggering a massive rescue operation amid fears of more victims trapped under the rubble.
A tragic incident unfolded in Dera Ghazi Khan after the roof of a private school suddenly collapsed, killing at least four children and injuring several others during school hours. The heartbreaking accident occurred in the Jam Pur Road area, sending shockwaves across the city and leaving families devastated.
According to rescue officials, the roof of a classroom gave way without warning, trapping students and staff beneath the debris. Emergency teams rushed to the scene immediately after receiving reports of the collapse and launched a large-scale rescue operation to recover victims from the rubble.
Rescue authorities confirmed that the bodies of four children were pulled out from under the collapsed structure, while a teacher and eight injured students were rescued alive and shifted to nearby hospitals for treatment. Officials fear more victims could still be trapped as search efforts continue at the site.
Authorities deployed seven ambulances, two fire vehicles, two rescue trucks and a motorbike response unit to speed up rescue and evacuation efforts. Police and district administration officials also arrived at the scene to monitor the operation and assist emergency workers.
The rescue mission is being supervised by District Emergency Officer Engineer Ahmed Kamal. Members of the rescue team said the roof appeared to have collapsed due to excessive load on the structure, though a formal investigation is expected to determine the exact cause of the incident.
The tragedy has once again raised serious concerns over building safety standards and infrastructure conditions in private educational institutions across Pakistan. Residents and parents demanded strict action against those responsible and called for immediate inspections of unsafe school buildings to prevent further loss of innocent lives.
