Hamza Shehbaz was briefed on the Digital Communication Department’s operations and efforts to counter misinformation and promote Pakistan’s national narrative.
Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Vice President and former Punjab Chief Minister Hamza Shehbaz Sharif visited the Digital Communication Department (DCD) of the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, where he was briefed on the department’s operations and digital media initiatives.
Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar, Federal Secretary for Information Ashfaq Ahmed Khaleel and senior ministry officials received Hamza Shehbaz upon his arrival.
Tarar briefed Hamza Shehbaz in detail about the various sections of the Digital Communication Department, its scope of work and ongoing activities.
“Digital media has become an effective means of disseminating information and maintaining communication with the public in the present era,” Tarar said.
He said countering negative propaganda against Pakistan and fabricated news was among the key responsibilities of the Digital Communication Department.
Tarar emphasized the need to highlight the government’s positive initiatives and the national narrative on digital platforms in line with modern communication requirements.
He said the Digital Communication Department and PTV Digital were playing an important role in achieving these objectives.
Hamza Shehbaz expressed keen interest in the activities being carried out by different sections of the Digital Communication Department and appreciated the Ministry of Information’s efforts in the field of digital communication.
He said digital media was an important tool for ensuring timely access to information for the public and effectively highlighting government initiatives.
“Effective use of digital platforms can help communicate Pakistan’s positive image and national narrative to the world,” Hamza Shehbaz said.
He also described the ministry’s ongoing initiatives in digital communication and its use of modern technology as commendable.
The meeting also included discussions on public outreach and effective communication through digital technology, social media and other platforms.
Officials also discussed measures to further expand digital access to content through PTV Digital.
Hamza Shehbaz was additionally briefed on the ministry’s ongoing initiatives in the digital communication sector.
Federal Minister Rana Mubashir Iqbal, Minister of State Abdul Rehman Kanju, Prime Minister’s Media Coordinator Badr Shehbaz Warraich and Prime Minister’s Special Assistant Talha Barqi were also present on the occasion.
