Heatwave Alert Looms: What Today’s Weather Means for Citizens Across Pakistan

Lorem Ipsum is simply dummy text of the printing and typesetting industry. Lorem Ipsum has been the industry’s standard dummy text ever since the 1500s, when an unknown printer took a galley of type and scrambled it to make a type specimen book. It has survived not only five centuries, but also the leap into electronic typesetting, remaining essentially unchanged.

It was popularised in the 1960s with the release of Letraset sheets containing Lorem Ipsum passages, and more recently with desktop publishing software like Aldus PageMaker including versions of Lorem Ipsum.

Pakistan is set to experience a stark contrast in weather conditions today, Thursday, April 30, as authorities warn of intensifying heat in plains and possible light showers in northern regions, raising concerns about an emerging heatwave pattern.

According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department, most parts of Islamabad, Punjab, and the plains of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa are expected to remain hot and dry throughout the day. Temperatures are likely to rise significantly by afternoon, increasing the intensity of heat and discomfort for residents.

In contrast, upper regions including Murree, Galiyat, and northern districts may experience relatively pleasant weather due to light winds, offering some relief from the otherwise rising temperatures.

Sindh and South Punjab are forecast to face severe heat, with temperatures in several cities expected to exceed 40 degrees Celsius. Authorities have urged citizens to avoid unnecessary outdoor exposure during peak sunlight hours and to increase water intake to prevent heat-related illnesses.

Balochistan will also largely remain hot and dry, although Quetta and surrounding areas may see cooler conditions during early morning and nighttime hours.

Meanwhile, Gilgit-Baltistan and Kashmir are expected to witness partly cloudy skies, with chances of light rain or drizzle at isolated locations, adding variability to the national weather pattern.

The meteorological department has cautioned that temperatures could rise further in the coming days, particularly in plains, potentially triggering heatwave-like conditions. Citizens are advised to take precautionary measures and stay updated with the latest weather advisories.
