Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf has strongly criticized the United States over its reported blockade measures, calling them “irrational and unjust.” In an interview, he questioned how other countries could pass through the Strait of Hormuz while Iran faced restrictions, saying such a situation was “impossible to accept.”
Ghalibaf acknowledged that some progress had been made in ongoing talks with the United States, but stressed that significant differences still remain. He claimed that Iran had resisted pressure during the conflict, adding that expectations of a quick surrender were proven wrong.
Highlighting military developments, he said Iranian forces had downed between 170 and 180 drones and even targeted an advanced fighter jet, underscoring the country’s defense capabilities. However, he declined to share further details about Iran’s military technology.
The Iranian leader also issued a warning to US naval forces, stating that American minesweepers must not advance beyond their current positions. He warned that any forward movement would be met with a direct response.
Ghalibaf added that these concerns had already been clearly conveyed to the American delegation during ongoing diplomatic engagements.
