US President Donald Trump chaired a key meeting in the White House Situation Room to review the evolving situation in Iran and ongoing diplomatic efforts. During the session, Trump reportedly held phone conversations with Pakistan’s Chief of Army Staff, Asim Munir, as well as Iranian officials.
Vice President JD Vance also attended the meeting, having previously led the US delegation in talks held in Islamabad. Reports suggest he may continue to lead future negotiations.
Discussions focused on the latest developments in the Strait of Hormuz and progress in US-Iran dialogue. The meeting comes as a 15-day ceasefire between Washington and Tehran is set to expire in three days.
Trump has earlier expressed optimism about reaching a deal soon, although no new date for talks has been confirmed. The White House has not yet issued an official statement regarding the Situation Room meeting.
