New system aims to simplify verification, reduce processing time, and enhance transparency for graduates nationwide.
ISLAMABAD: The Higher Education Commission (HEC) has announced plans to launch a digital degree attestation system, marking a significant step toward modernizing academic verification processes in Pakistan.
The initiative is designed to replace the conventional manual attestation method with a fully online system, enabling applicants to submit and track their requests electronically. Officials say the move will significantly reduce processing times and improve efficiency for students and graduates.
According to HEC, the digital platform will allow universities, employers, and relevant institutions to verify academic credentials through a secure and centralized database. The system is also expected to minimize the risk of document fraud and enhance overall transparency.
The commission noted that the transition to a paperless system aligns with broader government efforts to digitize public services and improve accessibility. Applicants will no longer need to visit HEC offices physically, as the entire process will be managed online.
Education experts have welcomed the development, stating that it will ease administrative burdens on graduates, particularly those applying for jobs or higher studies abroad. The system is also expected to benefit overseas Pakistanis who often face delays in document verification.
HEC is expected to release further details regarding the launch timeline, registration procedures, and operational guidelines in the coming days.
