Islamabad’s Anti-Terrorism Court extended interim bail in more than 230 petitions filed by PTI leaders and restrained authorities from making arrests until the next hearing on October 29.
An Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) in Islamabad on Wednesday extended interim bail in more than 230 petitions filed by leaders of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), directing law enforcement agencies not to arrest the applicants until the next hearing on October 29.
The cases relate to multiple incidents, including the November 26 protest, the Sangjani public gathering, demonstrations outside the Supreme Court, and several other protest-related cases registered in the federal capital.
ATC Judge Abual Hasanat Muhammad Zulqarnain heard the matter, with PTI leaders Junaid Akbar, Raoof Hasan, Abdul Qayyum Niazi, and other party members appearing before the court.
During the proceedings, the court extended interim bail in all pending applications and instructed authorities to refrain from arresting the PTI leaders until October 29, when the matter will be heard again.
The judge also directed both sides to present detailed arguments at the next hearing before the court considers the merits of the interim bail petitions.
PTI leaders are facing numerous cases registered at Tarnol, Ramna, Aabpara, Secretariat, and several other police stations in Islamabad. The cases stem from allegations linked to protests, public gatherings, and related activities.
The latest order provides temporary legal relief to the party’s leadership while the court continues to examine the bail requests. The proceedings are expected to continue on October 29, when the court will hear detailed submissions from both the prosecution and the defense before deciding the next course of action.
