Justin Greaves Stands Tall as West Indies Frustrate Pakistan on Rain-Hit Opening Day

Lorem Ipsum is simply dummy text of the printing and typesetting industry. Lorem Ipsum has been the industry’s standard dummy text ever since the 1500s, when an unknown printer took a galley of type and scrambled it to make a type specimen book. It has survived not only five centuries, but also the leap into electronic typesetting, remaining essentially unchanged.

It was popularised in the 1960s with the release of Letraset sheets containing Lorem Ipsum passages, and more recently with desktop publishing software like Aldus PageMaker including versions of Lorem Ipsum.

Justin Greaves’ unbeaten 64 and a resilient partnership with Roston Chase guided West Indies to 239-5 at stumps on a rain-affected opening day of the second Test against Pakistan.

PORT OF SPAIN: Justin Greaves produced a calm and determined unbeaten half-century to steer the West Indies to 239-5 at stumps on the opening day of the second Test against Pakistan, giving the hosts a slight advantage after rain and poor light reduced play.

Greaves finished the day unbeaten on 64, while captain Roston Chase remained undefeated on 36. Their unbroken partnership helped stabilize the innings after Pakistan claimed wickets at regular intervals, preventing the visitors from building sustained pressure.

Earlier, Brandon King provided a solid platform with an entertaining 46. The top-order batter looked set for a fifty before falling just short, but his knock helped the West Indies recover from an early setback and maintain positive momentum.

Pakistan’s bowling attack worked hard throughout the day on a surface offering occasional assistance. Mohammad Ali was the standout performer, taking two wickets with disciplined pace and accuracy. Ubaid Shah, Ali Usman, and veteran spinner Sajid Khan claimed one wicket each to keep Pakistan within reach despite several frustrating partnerships.

Persistent rain and fading light restricted play to 74 overs, disrupting the rhythm of the contest and denying Pakistan extended opportunities to capitalize after breakthroughs.

The West Indies will resume on the second morning with five wickets still in hand and will aim to push their first-innings total beyond 350. Greaves and Chase will look to extend their unbeaten stand and put additional pressure on Pakistan.
