ISLAMABAD: On February 18 Albert P. Khorev, Ambassador of the Russian Federation delivered a lecture on Russia Pakistan relations to students at Bahria University.
During his address, Ambassador Khorev underscored the historically constructive nature of ties between Moscow and Islamabad despite challenges in global politics. He recalled key industrial projects executed with Soviet support in the 1970s and 1980s including the establishment of Karachi Steel Mills and the Guddu Thermal Power Plant, describing them as symbols of enduring cooperation.
The Ambassador noted that contemporary Russia Pakistan relations are witnessing increasing momentum marked by expanding political dialogue, economic collaboration and humanitarian exchanges. He highlighted the importance of strengthening mutual understanding through education and cultural engagement.
Ambassador Khorev also briefed students on the situation in and around Ukraine, outlining Russia’s perspective on the origins of the crisis and regional security dynamics.
On the sidelines of the event the Ambassador met with Abid Hameed Rector of Bahria University. Both sides discussed prospects for partnerships with Russian academic institutions and expressed interest in promoting continued educational cooperation.
The event reflected growing engagement between Russia and Pakistan in academic and diplomatic spheres.
