Major decisions focus on healthcare expansion, women’s protection laws, infrastructure development and financial relief for affected families
PESHAWAR: The Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa cabinet on Thursday approved a series of wide-ranging measures aimed at strengthening healthcare services, infrastructure development and social welfare across the province.
The cabinet sanctioned more than Rs4.06 billion to address staff shortages in health facilitation centers and public hospitals. It also approved the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Vagrancy (Control and Rehabilitation) Bill 2025 and the Wheat Procurement and Strategic Reserves Hybrid Policy 2026 to improve food security management.
Under the Chief Minister’s Digital Inclusion Program, Rs196 million was approved as a grant-in-aid to provide laptops to minority students. Amendments to the Protection Against Harassment of Women at the Workplace Act 2010 were also cleared to enhance safeguards for working women.
The cabinet authorized the establishment of breast screening centers at five divisional headquarters and approved the transfer of 15 kanals of land in Upper Chitral for a nursing college. It also endorsed a cost revision for the Women and Children Hospital project in Lakki Marwat and land allocation for a Ladies and Children Park on Kohat Road in Peshawar.
Additionally, approval was granted for land acquisition costs for the Peshawar–Dera Ismail Khan Motorway, expansion of the judicial complex in Hangu, a financial aid package for 6,505 affected families in Khyber under the Tirah model, and the nomination of a private sector representative to the Private Power and Infrastructure Board.
